A Rainbow of Colour...
*
Primary 2/3 have had a colourful start to the new year. Our new topic in World Around Us is 'Colour.' We have been colour mixing, doing lots of fun experiments, making colourful poems and of course our Art work is amazing! We have been looking at 'The Rainbow Fish,' in class and talking about the importance of sharing and being a good friend. We also enjoyed our Colour Hunt around our school playground. We saw lots of bright colours starting to appear.

In Numeracy we have been doing lots of practical work. We are looking at partitioning this term and have found different ways to partition cubes, colourful objects and even ourselves. We have also been weighing different objects in class with balancing scales. We can't wait to weigh out the ingredients to make our own slime in the playroom next week!

Our Primary 2 pupils have joined with the Primary 2 pupils in Woodburn PS and Hazelwood IPS for the Shared Education Programme. We really enjoyed our first visit to Woodburn PS last week. We got to know each other by playing parachute games, doing arts and crafts and playing in the playground. We are looking forward to visiting Hazelwood IPS in February to play in their Outdoor Play area.

We have had some visitors to our class this term already. Beverley, from Sustrans, came to talk to us about safe cycling. We are really trying to walk to school or take our bikes to give us more exercise. We also had a visit from the school nurse who talked to us about healthy eating. We are all working very hard to eat healthy breaks to achieve our Green Flag from Eco-Schools this year.

If you go down to the woods today...
*
Mrs Lowry's P2/3 class have been working very hard in Term 1. Our topic is 'In the Forest' and we have been doing lots of exciting activities! Our playroom has been transformed into a camp site and we have been having great fun during role play making yummy BBQs. We have been looking at different animals that live in the forest and have been able to make some woodland homes from hay, leaves, twigs and grass. We have been reading 'The Gruffalo' in class and are looking forward to making some Gruffalo crumble in class this week!

We are making the most of the sunny days this term before winter approaches. We have had great fun in the garden with our new outdoor play equipment. We enjoy playing on our bikes, scooters and with our huge sandpit! We also went on a bug hunt in our garden and found lots of interesting bugs in our Eco-Council's bug hotel!

In Numeracy we have been copying patterns and making some patterns of our own. We can even make our own pattern and put a mistake in it ourselves! We are also working hard in Literacy and have been sequencing stories and practising our sounds. We enjoy parachute games in PE and IFA coaching on Thursday mornings. P2/3 class have had a great start to the year!!
