Primary 6/7 have had a busy start to the new school year. We held our elections in September for our new Primary 7 House captains. We are very excited to see what competitions our new House captains will plan for the year ahead.

We enjoyed a visit from Adam Keefe from the Belfast Giants. He taught us the importance of maintaining a healthy diet and doing exercise every day. We were very excited to get a photograph taken with him. Adam also gave our school 50 free tickets for a Belfast Giants match in October. We can't wait to go!

On Friday afternoons 'Coaching for Christ' come in to take a PE lesson with us. We learn football skills and play a match at the end. We also enjoy listening to the Bible stories that Kirsty and Dave tell us each week.

We were invited to Carrickfergus library to attend the 'Roald Dahl Chocolate Roadshow.' This was to celebrate 100 years of Roald Dahl's literature. We listened to excerpts from Roald Dahl's books and enjoyed participating in a quiz. Aunt Sandra's Candy Factory were also there and we had the opportunity to make our own chocolate moulds and decorate them. We even got to meet the real Willy Wonka!

Our current topic in 'World Around Us' is the Victorians. We are finding it very interesting comparing life then to now. We studied the Victorian painter, William Morris, and created some of his prints. We are currently making Victorian silhouettes of ourselves from black card.

Our Primary 7 football team are competing in a football league against primary schools in the local area on Thursday afternoons. They have played two matches to date and have drew one and won the other. We are very proud of them and look forward to seeing how they progress throughout the year.

In October we had a visit from 'Zoo Lab.' We met George the cockroach, Ziggy the snake, Oscar the rat and Rose the tarantula!! We learned lots of interesting facts about these animals and we even got to handle some of them.
