VISIT TO THE COUNCIL DEPOT
*
Reported by Simone, Courtney and Georgia.

We are doing a project about litter. We went to the Council Depot in a bus. Mrs. Stewart took us inside and gave us crisps and juice. We went outside and saw a bin lorry. The bin man showed us how the rubbish is tipped into the lorry.

We saw the big and small sweepers. Mrs. Stewart told us all that we should recycle things all the time and that we must always put our rubbish into a bin. It was a brilliant trip.

A selection of materials including wood, glue, paper, string and a plastic cup was made available to each group. Greystone Primary School (in Antrim) came first. Although the boys didn't win a prize they got a certificate and a Crème Egg each and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Being Energy Efficient
*
Primary six children learned all about Energy Efficiency last week when Ms Bingham from Bryson House came to school. She gave a talk about electricity and how it was made and then used in homes, schools and factories. Everyone heard about how fossil fuels like coal, oil and gas are running out and how it is important to reduce our use of energy.
