|Shared Education Programme 2017/18
The Department of Education has a duty to encourage the development of Shared Education. Shared Education encourages all types of schools to collaborate with other schools to provide opportunities for pupils from different religious and socio-economic backgrounds to learn together. Schools retain their individual ethos but work together in partnership for the benefit of their pupils. The aim is to improve educational attainment, promote efficient use of resources and break down barriers in communities.
Carrickfergus Central Primary School, Woodburn Primary School and Hazelwood Integrated Primary School made a joint application to work together to develop Outdoor Learning which is a key area in each school's development plan. We were successful in this application and the schools will begin working together in January 2018. The programme will this year focus on our Primary 2 children.
The children will have the opportunity to visit each other's schools and play together. These visits will be fully funded through the programme. Each school will also be able to purchase new equipment for outdoor play in their own schools.
Teacher's from the schools involved attended a workshop in relation to developing Outdoor Play along with colleagues from other schools in the Carrickfergus and Belfast areas.
Central Primary has in place a number of policies.
These policy documents are available.
Should you wish to view a specific policy, please contact the school office and we will arrange for the information to be made available to you.
